Substantial Revenue contributed to State Govt. by Nandankan Zoo

While Nandankan
Zoo
has generated revenue amounting Rs. 51 crores, State
Govt. has spent total amount of Rs. 23
crores for management of zoo in last five years.
·
In an
average , 30 lakh people visited zoo in every year.
·
Average
62 animals die in Zoo
in every year due to
various reasons like in-fighting,
outbreak of disease, infection, shock
due to stress, mixed injection etc.

On
22.10.18, RTI Application was submitted
to the PIO, Dept. of Forest and Environment, Govt. of Odisha seeking
information about details of revenue
generated from Visitors
visiting Nandankanan Zoological
Park from 2014-15 to 2018-19, details of budgetary allocation by State Govt. for management of
Zoological park, details of death
of animals and birds in different years. RTI application was forwarded
to different offices and at
last reached at Deputy Director, Nandankanan Zoological
Park. On 13.2.19, the PIO has
provided the following
information.
