List of Journalists allotted Government Quarters in Bhubaneswar

List of Journalists allotted Government Quarters in Bhubaneswar, Capital city of Odisha
(Information obtained under RTI dated 29.3.18)
·         Many Journalists have been enjoying Govt. quarters since 30 to 40 years.
·         Though Sri Tathagat Satapathy is MP and having own palatial house in Bhubaneswar, he does not hesitate to  enjoy   high profile Govt.  quarter  as journalist  in Bhubaneswar since 2006.
·         Not a single woman journalist has been allotted Govt. quarter  in Bhubaneswar, though applied.
·          Since years together,  Govt. Quarters are still under occupation of the family members of  Journalists  who  have already expired.
·         Like Ministers, MLAs and  Officers,  the Journalists  who are  having Govt. land  and own house in Bhubaneswar  still enjoy Govt. quarter .
·         Monthly House rent of Govt. quarters allotted to Journalists ranges  from Rs. 400.00 to Rs. 700.00.
·         House Rent  has not  been revised  since 1991.
·         There is no norm/ rules   in respect of criteria  and procedure for  allotment  of Govt. quarters  to Journalists in Bhubaneswar.
·         More  than 400 Govt. quarters are illegally  occupied  by retired Govt. officials and transferred employees  in Bhubaneswar  causing loss of crores of rupees to state  exchequer.
·         Journalists of Electronics media  have  not  been allotted  Govt. quarters till yet.
·         State Govt. must pay attention to allot more  quarters  to young Journalists  who are struggling  in their profession  to live in Bhubaneswar by paying  huge house rent.
