A corrupt Police officer was caught red-handedly  by  Odisha  Vigilance  for taking bribe from RTI Activist

On 12.6.18, a  corrupt police Pabitra Mohan Pradhan, Sub-Inspector, Begunia Police station of Khurda district, Odisha was caught red-handedly by Vigilance for taking bribe from Bikash Jena,RTI Activist.  

On 13.5.18., Sri Bikash was severely beaten up by BJD supported goons for filling number of RTI Applications to block and tahasil office to expose corruption and misappropriation of fund allocated  under ICDS, NREGA  Scheme. Then, on the next day he  filed FIR dt. 14.5.18 to the IIC, Begunia Police station seeking inquiry into  the matter and action against the culprits.   But the Sub-inspector did not register FIR rather misbehaved him and threatened him not come to police station further. He also used  very slang language   using name of his caste. On the other hand,  the same sub-inspector  immediately registered     a counter FIR filed  by the accused against  whom he had filed FIR and tried to arrest him.

 Then,  Bikash field case in both OHRC and Information Commission seeking direction to SP, Khurda to conduct an inquiry into his   allegation and direction to the IIC, Begunia police station to register his FIR and conduct an inquiry.  He had also demanded action against Sub-Inspector, Begunia Police station for misbehaving him using slang language.

Later on the said police officer asked Bikash to pay Rs. 5000 . So that he will not arrest him. In the meantime Bikash got succeeded in obtaining advance bail. Along with other RTI Activists, it was planned to arrest this police through vigilance case.  Accordingly vigilance  officials were  approached and detailed plan was chalked out to catch him. On 12.6.18,  he was caught by Vigilance officials while taking money  from Bikash.
