 300 Govt. Quarters illegally occupied by retired Govt. officials in Bhubaneswar

Dear friends

 Earlier, we  had brought notice to the public  about huge land illegally  occupied  by many  powerful people in Bhubaneswar.  But  this  time , we  have exposed  how  the Govt. quarters are unauthorizedly occupied by  retired Govt. officials  in Bhubaneswar, while  hundreds of Govt. officers and employees  are  running  from pillar to post  to get a Govt. quarter.

 On 8.8.20, RTI Application was  filed  to  the  Department of General Administration and PG , Govt. of Odisha seeking  information  as follows.

i. Provide     list  of Govt. quarters  unauthorisedly  occupied  by the  retired  officers, employees  and present serving  Govt. officers  and employees  in Bhubaneswar  and  penal  house rent  pending  against  each of them .

 On 17.11.20, the PIO , office of GA&PG (rent)  has  provided  the  following  information.

1.       A total no. of 308  retired officers and employees  have illegally occupied  Govt. quarters  in Bhubaneswar.

2.       Since 2009, the  retired Govt. employees  have occupied  Govt. quarters.

3.       A sum of  Rs. 4,28,71,771.00  is  the pending  due  against the retired  officials  occupying Govt. quarters.

4.       The Peons, clercks, Dairist, Teachers, Assistant  Executive  Engineers, senior Grade Typists, desk officers , Electricians , Chief  Engineer, Engineer-in-Chief, Rural Works, Drivers, Dafadar, Constable, Havildar, Chowkidar, OAS officers Section Officers, Assistant Auditors, Demonstrator , Recorders  who have got  retired  within the period of 2009 to 2020  have unauthorisedly occupied  Govt. quarters  for  years together causing huge revenue loss to state exchequer, even after  letter  of cancellation  has been served to them several times.

5.       The range  of  pending dues  against  the retired officials starts  from Rs. 10,000.00 to Rs. 10,00,000.00.

6.       As per  the  law,  when the Govt. employees  illegally  occupy  Govt. quarters,  the  Govt. will take  legal action  against  them and  get the  quarters  free  from them by using  the  police  force. But  astonishingly,  the  Govt. has sat  over  the  file  for  years together  just after  issuing  the  letter  of cancellation.
