Pradeep Pradhan nominated as Advisor to NHRC

Pradeep Pradhan nominated as a member to the Core Advisory Group of National Human Rights Commission 

Renowned rights activist Mr. Pradeep Phadhan has been listed as a member to the Core Advisory Group on Right to Food of the National Human Rights Commission.  Mr. Pradhan is one of the members of the 13 member advisory group of eminent academicians, activists, advocates and senior bureaucrats at the national level. This core group on right to food advice NHRC on issues relating to right to food, review the existing policies, programmes under right to food in different states and UTs, suggest measures to fill the gap in policy framework and examine and replicate the best practices in India and abroad.

Mr. Pradhan is a well-known right to food and right to information activist, has a long experience on human rights in Odisha perspective. He has efficiently raised the pressing issues of human rights violations, hunger and starvation death in western and south Odisha, infant deaths, and malnutrition among women and children in Odisha. He has also uncovered issues of corruption in right to food programmes like public distribution system (PDS), integrated child protection scheme (ICDS), mid-day meal (MDM) programme and various pension schemes. He has been engaged in promotion of right to information and various accountability laws like right to public service delivery in Odisha. He has pioneered many tools to expose corruption and poor accountability through social auditing, public hearing and policy advocacy. He has the convenor of Right to Food Campaign and leading the Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan a campaign on right to information. Despite this he is a writer, written many books and blogs, also a good motivational orator and a trainer.   

We sincerely believe his advice to the commission will bring a new dimension to the recent implemented right to food act in India and particularly in Odisha. We wish him all success in his journey to protect the rights of the most vulnerable people of poor state like Odisha.
